Buzz Party

Buzz Party has no accounts and does not track you. The game itself runs entirely between the phones in the room — no server, no internet, nothing reported to us while you play.
There is exactly one thing the app ever sends us, and only if you choose it: if you tell us who referred you to Buzz Party, we receive their referral code and yours. Nothing else, ever.
The app works by connecting the phones in the room directly to each other. What you set up — your name, your buzzer, your sound — stays on your phone, except for the few things the other players in your game need in order to see you.
All of this is stored only on your device, in the app's own storage. None of it is uploaded anywhere.
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your phone, including your referral code. Like any other app's files, your picture and your recording are included in your own iCloud or computer device backup if you make one, so a backup taken before you deleted the app will still contain them.
When you join a game, your phone introduces itself to the other phones in that game so everyone can see who is playing. Those phones receive:
That information travels directly between the phones in the room over your local network or Bluetooth. It does not pass through a server, it is not stored by us, and it is gone when the game ends.
Because there is no account system, anyone running Buzz Party nearby can see the display name and buzzer of a phone that is looking for a game. If you would rather not show a real name, pick something else — the app gives you a random one by default, and you can change it at any time in Profile.
Three kinds of text move between the phones in a game: the display names players pick, the question a host types, and the answers players type back. This content goes directly between the phones in the room, is never uploaded, is not stored after the game, and is limited in length.
Because Buzz Party has no accounts and no central service, there is nobody to report a person to, and a game is open to any phone running the app within range — so play it with people you are actually in a room with. If someone is behaving badly, the host can remove them from the game from the players list in the waiting room. A removed player is sent back to the start screen and their phone cannot rejoin that game. The host can also simply end the game.
Every copy of Buzz Party makes up a short code for itself, like K7RM2QXB. It's generated on your phone, it isn't your name and it isn't linked to your Apple ID.
If somebody told you about Buzz Party, you can scan their code from the About screen. At that moment — and only then — your phone sends us:
We use it to count how many people each code has been credited with. That's the whole purpose. We don't sell it, share it, or combine it with anything from anywhere else, and it is never used to track you across other apps or websites. You can use Buzz Party forever and never send us anything: showing your own code is completely offline, and scanning someone else's is always your choice.
Deleting the app discards your code. A new install gets a new one.

The optional permissions are genuinely optional. Decline them and the game plays exactly the same; you simply use one of the built-in buzzer designs and sounds.
Buzz Party is a party game and is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children, and has no accounts, no messaging with strangers over the internet, no in-app purchases at this time, and no advertising.
If you have sent us a referral and want it removed, email the address below with your code and we'll delete it. Apart from that there is nothing of yours for us to hand over or correct, because we never receive anything else — everything the app knows about you stays on your phone.
If a future version of the app changes what it does with information, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
